Greetings and Happy March, In recognition of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day today, Reason2Smile is highlighting the success of two of our female Jambo Jipya student graduates, Ashora and Neema! Catch their post-graduation journies below AshoraAfter graduating Jambo Jipya, Ashora attended a Hair design and beauty program at The Mombasa Community School for 15 months. In school, she learned how to cut, style, braid, weave, color, work with wigs, smoothing treatments as well as techniques and products to promote healthy hair. Ashora also learned how to advise clients on their desired look or style and assist them making the proper choice to achieve this outcome. This skill is such an important part of the profession in providing appropriate, satisfying hair care and styling services. Ashora was set to take her licensing exam in April 2020 but this was delayed due to Covid. She began working in June of 2020 and since has found permanent employment at DMA Salon in Mwtapa. Fortunately, she was able to sit for her examination in December and is now waiting for her official license to be sent. 100% of the tuition, exam fees, transport, and supplies were funded by Reason2Smile. We are thrilled that all of Ashora’s hard work and dedication has given her the education and skills to achieve success. Ashora’s dream written in the back of Neema’s Reason to Smile by Patricia Newman is “To open my own salon and make women feel good about themselves.” Working as a team has enabled this dream to become a reality and we wish Ashora nothing but the best as she continues on her road to success. |
